Liposuction for removing those stubborn areas of fat
Our bodies are made up of a number of fat cells, which change in size but not in number as we gain and lose weight. Your diet and exercise can increase or decrease the amount of fat in each cell but will not affect the total number of cells or their distribution. If you have genetically inherited a large number of fat cells on your thighs and small numbers of fat cells on your arms, you will always have more fat on the thighs than on the arms, and strenuous attempts at weight loss can leave you with a thin upper body and persistently bulky thighs.
The liposuction procedure
Liposuction can offer a new shape for people who never thought it was possible and is one of the most commonly performed cosmetic surgery procedures in the world. It involves removing fat below the skin through small keyhole incisions placed in strategic locations. While being a very useful and versatile surgical procedure to reduce fatty deposits in many areas of the body, liposuction is not used as a weight loss technique; instead it is used to treat and contour specific areas of fat deposition that have resisted the efforts of diet and exercise. It is a good way to sculpt a desired shape and contour without having to have large scars.
Dr Yang always does this procedure with a specialist anaesthetist in a properly accredited hospital.
